I’m so pleased to announce that we will return to juniors rugby this Sunday the 06/12!
We have moved to ‘E’ on the RFU Return To Rugby Road Map. Although this has some variations it takes us closer to the pre Covid-19 game! What does this mean for us with the variations to the laws?
No Scrums
No Mauls
Line Outs (Lee Thorne -we’ll catch up with you separately)
Contact
Equipment
Fixtures
I’m sure you will agree this is great news and a great step forward for Rugby Union and this club.
So what does this mean for CIRUFC –
Covid Secure – We will continue to use the track & trace app until further notice. All players, coaches and spectators must fill this out. Social distancing must be adhered to in accordance to the government guidelines. Players will continue to hand sanitise at regular intervals, equipment to be wiped down and all rugby balls cleaned regularly.
Timings – We will remain with the split sessions to minimise footfall on the club. U6 – U10 is 10-11am and U11 upwards is 11:30 – 12:30. We are looking to bring back Micro training in the NY and are currently looking for coaches to support this. If anyone knows anyone who would be interested please let us know.
Facilities – The kitchen will be open for hot drinks and snacks as it was prior to the lockdown.
Fixtures – We have been advised fixtures can take place after the 2nd week of Jan. We will be giving you as much information on this as we can. There is no obligation to take fixtures until you are ready. Please use this next few weeks to learn the laws of your age group and the variations. Essentially this is our pre season period. We anticipate the next 3 Sundays before we break for Xmas and return in January (Date TBC).
Memberships – Please can you remind your parents that all payments are now done via the club website.
Kit – The new kits are available through our partners SRG, click here. We advise that children try these on as the returns policy is difficult. There is a selection of sizes available on the patio and if anyone would like to support the kit trying on, over the next few weeks, that would be great! The coaches t-shirts are also available. We previously agreed to £10 donation to support these purchases. Dave Gallespie will let us know where and when to pay.
DBS – A huge thanks to Al for getting into the DBS’ and thanks to everyone for sorting their part in it. Only few left to do and some renewals in the NY. The club is almost back to the audit ready state from pre covid.
Training Courses – You will get some reminders in your Canvey email, from Bret Smith, for the courses you require in your age group and safeguarding. Please complete these at the earliest opportunity so we can update our database.
Xmas – Our final session of 2020 will be Sunday 20/12. Let’s make this a festive one! Encourage your kids to dress up, coaches dust off your Xmas jumpers and let’s finish this tough year with a bang!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your patience, flexibility and commitment over the last few months. I would also like to thank the youth committee for their support in this ever changing environment.
I can’t wait to see you all on Sunday! Keep safe,
Tony Musgrave
Youth Chairman.
